What is JUVÉDERM®?
JUVÉDERM® is a collection of FDA-approved injectable dermal fillers that temporarily restore or add volume to certain areas of the face in adults over 21.
Specifically, JUVÉDERM® VOLUMA® XC adds volume for lift and contour in cheeks and to improve the profile of the chin. JUVÉDERM® VOLBELLA® XC and JUVÉDERM® Ultra XC add plumpness to lips. JUVÉDERM® VOLLURE® XC and JUVÉDERM® Ultra Plus XC smooth the look of moderate to severe wrinkles and folds around the nose and mouth, such as nasolabial folds or "laugh lines". JUVÉDERM® VOLUX™ XC is a robust JUVÉDERM® filler and structural gel for those with moderate to severe loss of jawline definition.
All six of these unique formulas in the JUVÉDERM® Collection of Fillers are brought to you by the makers of BOTOX® Cosmetic (onabotulinumtoxinA).
How does dermal filler work?
The main ingredient in JUVÉDERM® injectable fillers is hyaluronic acid, or HA. Hyaluronic acid is a substance naturally found in our bodies that can hold up to a thousand times its weight in water. Targeting specific areas of the face with JUVÉDERM® treatments, which are made with modified hyaluronic acid, will temporarily add volume to those areas.
What are different JUVÉDERM® treatment options?
There are six unique JUVÉDERM® fillers for different patient needs. They are used to add volume to your cheeks, and also utilized in the chin, in the lips with your desired volume, the jawline and smile lines.
Don’t worry about figuring out which one is right for you, or how many syringes you need — that’s your provider’s job!

When getting treated with a JUVÉDERM® filler, what is the process like?
First, you’ll have a consultation with a licensed provider to determine if you’re a candidate for treatment. Your provider should ask you questions about your medical background, including what medications you are currently taking, and discuss the risks of filler procedures. This is standard for any injectable filler treatment. If you’re deemed a candidate, your provider will inject the selected JUVÉDERM® product into the approved treatment area. Be ready to remove your makeup before you get treated!

Does it hurt?
Certain areas, including the lips (which are full of nerve endings), can feel like a pinch or a bee sting, while others are less sensitive. That said, all JUVÉDERM® products with “XC” in the name are formulated with lidocaine, a temporary numbing local anesthetic, to help reduce discomfort. Plus, many providers will offer to apply a topical numbing cream to the area before your treatment to help reduce injection pain, and ice afterwards to help soothe. During your consultation, ask your provider about your numbing options.
